Da Nang weather is warm and moderate all year round. Two distinct seasons in Da Nang are rainy season and dry season. Sometimes, there are cold snaps in winter. The average temperature is about 25.9 ˚C.

Da Nang is located in South Central Coast. Thus, weather in Da Nang is characterized by weather in South Central Coast. Coordinates in the mainland of Da Nang City are at 15°15' to 16°40' north latitude and 107°17' to 108°20' east longitude. Da Nang borders Hue in the north, Quang Nam in the west and southwest, and the South China Sea in the east. Apart from the mainland, the sea area of Da Nang consists of Paracel Islands at 15°45' to 17°15' north latitude, 111°to 113° east longitude, cross the coastal parts of Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai; and about 120 nautical miles to the south from Ly Son Island (Quang Ngai province).

With this geographical position, climate in Da Nang is typified by the tropical monsoon climate with high temperature and less fluctuations. Da Nang climate is the combination of sub-tropical climate in the North and tropical savanna climate in the South. Yet, weather in Da Nang is affected mostly by the tropical savanna climate in the South Central Coast. There are two distinct seasons in a year: rainy season and dry season. Occasionally, there are cold snaps in dry season. The average temperature is about 25.9 ˚C, reaching the highest point in June, July and August (28-30 ˚C), and the lowest point in December, January, and February (18-23 ˚C). In mountainous area as Ba Na Hill (at the latitude of 1500m), the average temperature is about 20 ˚C. The humidity averages about 83.4%.

The average precipitation in a year is about 2504.57mm. The highest rainfall level is recorded in October and November with 550-1000mm per month, while the lowest one is in January, February, March and April with 23-40mm per month. There are two kinds of monsoons in Da Nang: south-west monsoon in summer and north-east monsoon in winter. The average sunshine hours in a year are 2156.2 hours, highest in May and June (234-277 hours per month), lowest in November and December (69-165 hours per month). Annually, Da Nang is influenced directly by one or two hurricanes or tropical depressions. In 2006, Da Nang was affected by Typhoon Xangsane, the strongest typhoon as recorded within 100 years, causing series damage to the city.

The sunshine hours in Paracel Islands fluctuate from 2400 to 2600 hours per year. The average temperature in this archipelago is about 22-24 ˚C in January, and gradually increases in the months of June and July with 28-29 ˚C. The regional wind regime in Paracel Islands is complicated due to being influenced by continental topography of Vietnam and China. The average rainfall in Paracel Islands is about 1200-1600mm. The humidity averages about 80-85%, and rarely changes.
