Ta Cu Mountain

 

Situated at an altitude of 649m above the sea level, Ta Cu Mountain is home to ideal climate, which is extremely convenient for the leisure tourism with a total area of more than 250.000m2 including forests, mountains and marine in the diverse ecological population. From 2003 up to now, Ta Cu Mountain has been also known for the cable car system, which helps tourists not only contemplate the sightseeing of South Central delta but also enjoy the fresh air of the primitive forest just below. Entire cable car retains 25 - 35 cabins on the route of 1,600m high and 500m long cable. Discovering Ta Cu Mountain is definitely one of the most unforgettable things to do in Phan Thiet.

From the entrance, trolleybus directly transits tourists to the station, which is located a few hundred meters from the entrance gate. Choosing for themselves and their companions a cabin, tourists will depart the journey, leaving behind a large space. From the cabin, tourists can comfortably contemplate ancient trees with wild overgrown vines creating the relaxed and comfortable feelings. Down on the upper station, the air becomes much cooler. Keeping walking along the path, then crossing more than 100 sidesteps, tourists will be definitely amazed at the architectural overall of Buddha statues, the tomb-towers and shrines of Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda on the mountain. The first impression is the pure land scenery with 3 statues of Buddha Amitabha, Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta. White statues mingling the green trees creates the credibly majestic scenery. All is established under the mountain's position, the pagoda thus retains the southeast direction with architectural characteristics according to Mahayana architecture. Although undergoing many times of the renovation, the pagoda has remained ancient distinctions, for instance, curved roof tiles, 2 dragons flanking the moon tinged with moss. Setting on foot here in the morning when the mist covering layers of marble, tourists will find it easy to get the feelings like the fairy realms right in the earth.

Though being one of the great mountains in Binh Thuan province, the most massive and unique architectural works in Ta Cu Mountain tourist area is "Song Lam Thi Tich" relics with Southeast Asia's largest statue of Nirvana Shakyamuni Buddha. The statue retains 49m long and 11m high portrayed in the recumbent posture with the back leaning into the cliff and the head on hands. The statue was started construction in 1962 and completed nearly 4 years thereafter. Millions of tourists and Buddhists pilgrimage the pagoda to visit and light the incenses to worship the Buddha among the spectacular and majestic scenery atop Ta Cu Mountain.  The enormous statue has also significantly contributed to bring Ta Cu Mountain to become one of the most enchanting tourist Phan Thiet attractions in particular and Binh Thuan tourism in general.

Not only is it the alluring tourist sight, Ta Cu Mountain is also known as National Nature Reserve thanks to its diverse flora and fauna with dozens of rare animal species listed in the World Red Book such as Gekko rock lizard, Cyrtodactylus takouensis lizard, grouse, Truong Son (Annamite) silver langur, black leg douc, along with precious crops, namely Afzelia xylocarpa, Irvingia malayana... and over 150 medicinal plants as well.   Going to the mountain in the spring, tourists will delight in admiring yellow apricot and fragrant flowers blooming over the forest. In particular, the cool clear water of the spring flowing from the rocks on the mountain will certainly leave unforgettable impressions for tourists once setting foot on the tourist area. Ta Cu Mountain significantly contributes to bring Phan Thiet - Mui Ne tourism closer to both domestic and international tourists.
