Experience the life of an expat in Ho Chi Minh City

The hustling and bustling of Ho Chi Minh City has attracted more and more foreign expats coming and staying here. Among them, Sam Ivor, a British expat has decided to stay here longer to explore and learn more about the country and people here.

Accompanied by his skateboard, Sam Ivor has explored Ho Chi Minh City from almost the moments he arrived. Arrived here 1 year ago, Sam has been really familiar with the lifestyle. While other expats find one or two jobs, he found three. He continues his busy working as a model, DJ and freelance writer.

Although Sam had worked as a model before he came to Vietnam, he did not have made plan to pursue the profession in Vietnam. That career is developed by chance. Now Sam and other expat models in this city have become the familiar faces of magazines and fashion companies. Having the chance to work as the model in the US, the UK and some other European countries, Sam understands the fashion industry in the West. Although Vietnam fashion industry is not quite compared over other countries at the moment, Sam believes the country has lots amount of potential. Although the Vietnamese fashion industry is still in the fledgling stage, Sam quite satisfies with the professionalism of the young stylists, photographers and designers he works with.  He will contribute to the development of fashion industry in Vietnam. 

Working as the model is just one part of Sam Ivor’s life. In fact, he is also working as a DJ in clubs around the city. He together with other DJs and artists makes nightlife in Ho Chi Minh City more exciting with their own music. Known as the biggest and most hustle commercial center of the country, it seems Ho Chi Minh City never sleep. Hustling and bustling during day times, the city does not slow down even as the night falls. Exciting music and entertainment scene give people including foreign expats exciting experiences.

Being young and having great interested in parties, Sam obviously explores the nightlife. Sam also contributes to the scene by play his own music. He and other expats also try to bring other international artists to Ho Chi Minh City in the effort to improve music scene here. Sam believes his contribution to the nightlight of this city could help more people coming here to enjoy the great experiences he had. Ho Chi Minh City is the biggest economic center of Vietnam that does not mean the business opportunities are the only things that the city offers to residents. With 8 million local inhabitants, in ten of thousand of expats, so the demand for art and culture is huge. There is easy find out the culture events any times during the week. This is also an opportunity for locals in the city and expats meet together and understand more each other through appreciation of culture and art.

Living in Vietnam not long ago, Sam wants to learn more knowledge about every aspect of life here. He believes that events not only help to know more about the Vietnamese artists but also give him chance to integrate with social life of people. With his understand about culture, art, music and fashion, Sam has become a part of local life here.  However, that is not everything that the talented man expects. He still wants to get further integration in local life. Now, Sam and his friends are planning to launch new magazine which features about art, fashion and music scene of Ho Chi Minh City. Hopefully, with his effort, he can promote image of Ho Chi Minh City and at the same time, more people to exciting lifestyle that he enjoys.
