The project on preserving and recovering Lan Ong Street was conducted from 2013 in order to study, preserve and recover the architectural space of the traditional medicine street of Lan Ong, a bustling space selling Vietnamese traditional medicine and bronze ingots of Thang Long Citadel. The street is named after Hai Thuong Lan Ong, a famous physician. The street is a delight of textures and smells emanating from the sacks of herbal medicinal products including leaves, roots, barks, and powders. Like other streets in Hanoi Old Quarter, Lan Ong Street has a very high population density, which is a burden of the conservation of architectural space and the development of the traditional medicine.
