Some days ago, at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, there was a press conference one announcing the contest of Young Hoteliers Award 2015 (YHA 2015) organized by the National Economics University (Hanoi), Project "Vietnam Hotels, Restaurants, Tourism Network” (VHN), and Ton Duc Thang University (HCM). Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, Deputy Principal of the University of National Economics, said that Vietnam tourism has so far not developed commensurately with the inherent potential richness, and one of the reasons is limitation in human resources. Therefore, the organization of Young Hoteliers Award will create a playground contributing to establishing a high-quality human resources for the development of Vietnam tourism and hotels. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong desired that the competition would become an annual event, a far-reaching movement in all training institutions in tourism and hotels across the country.
Young Hoteliers Award (YHA), sponsored by the Vietnam Hoteliers, is an opportunity for young talents. YHA is an opportunity for the young people who do not only have passion and enthusiasm to develop themselves; but must also be aware of the responsibilities of contributing and developing the human resources community in particular and in Vietnam tourism industry in general.
The competition takes place from May 5 to August 1 in 2015 on the theme "Ring your idea". The competition of Young Hoteliers Award 2015 contest hopes to bring valuable opportunities of developing professions for young talents in the field of Tourism, Restaurants and Hotels in Vietnam in particular, and the service industry in Vietnam in general. Participants of the contest are citizens of Vietnam in age from 18 to 25, have or are studying at vocational training centers, colleges and universities across the country or international students studying abroad.
Candidates register to participate in the form of groups with 3 members in each. It is expected that, the competition will attract about 400 groups, equivalent to 1,200 young candidates. Vietnam Young Hoteliers Award has four rounds with different forms of requirement: making videos, writing schemes, presentations, and debates. The content of contest entries expresses the ideas, initiatives in the fields of the Vietnam non-smoke industry (tourism, restaurants, and hotels), namely, business ideas, solutions and initiatives to improve the business performance, the idea of promoting Vietnam tourism brand.
In terms of prize structure, there are four prizes. 01 First Prize valued 310 million dong includes a 7-day training course in Switzerland for three people, a training course of management, 1-year program Hospitality One-Stop Development, and 15 million dong. 01 Second Prize valued 80 million dong includes a training course of START Hospitality Program of US Training Institute of Residence and Hotel, 1-year Hospitality One-Stop Development, and a voucher for three people in Windflower Beach Boutique Hotel Mui Ne, and 10 million dong. 01 Third Prize valued 70 million dong includes a training course START Hospitality Program of US Training Institute of Residence and Hotel, 1- year Hospitality One-Stop Development, and 5 million dong.
