Visiting the festival, tourists will have the opportunity to explore daily working activities, customs and habits and unique cultural features of ethnic minorities in Moc Chau. The festival will feature art programs held from 9 pm to half past 11 pm on September 1st at Moc Chau Stadium. Earlier, from 8am to half past 10 am and from 2 pm to 5 pm on the same day, on some stages placed along the Highway 6, the inner road in Moc Chau District, will take place cultural programs performing folk songs, dances, traditional instruments of ethnic people in Moc Chau Plateau. The image of Hmong women together with their husbands driving a horse will be realistically recreated. Especially, the event that is expected by most tourists in this year festival is the balloon festival. There will be 2 balloons taking tourists to 4 kilometers away at an altitude of 200 – 300 meters to contemplate the panoramic views of Moc Chau Plateau. Another 1 balloon is hung in place at an altitude of under 50 meters for tourists to watch and take photographs. In the next morning of September 1st, tourists having registered before will be taken onto hot air balloons to admire sunrise. Tourists will have the chance to breathe fresh atmosphere, watch the sun slowly appear from mountain ranges and tea fields.
In the framework of Moc Chau Cultural Tourism Festival 2014, a large number of activities in culture, sports and tourism will be held such as: cultural camp; programs introducing community culture, Moc Chau cuisine, agricultural products, handicrafts, costumes, working tools; exhibitions displaying books, pictures and photographs of eco-tourism attractions, historical and cultural relics, typical furniture, appliances in Hmong people’s houses, traditional musical instruments; fruits and agricultural products festival displaying and selling high-quality specialties of Moc Chau such as tea, milk, plum, vegetable, flower and fruit of all kinds; the second cuisine competition with the participation of representatives of districts in Son La Province, fairs of tourism products and handicraft; game shows featuring folk games such as tug of war, waking on stilts, crossbow shooting and so on. Travelling Moc Chau during the festival, tourists also have the opportunity to visit plenty of appealing attractions in Moc Chau, especially, ecotourism attraction of the pine forest and Ang Village famous for Xoe Cha Festival of Thai ethnic people and horse-driving service.
Moc Chau Cultural Tourism Festival 2014 not only aims to tighten the close relationship between ethnic minorities in Son La Province, but also is an opportunity for Moc Chau to promote tourism potentials, attract investors, and accelerate the construction of key tourist areas planning to develop Moc Chau as a tourism urban area in the future.
