Vietnam Japan Culinary Festival

Vietnam Japan Culinary Festival was taken place on July 15th and 16th , 2014 at Da Nang Civic Center Park on the occasion of successful opening a new direct flight from Da Nang to Tokyo by Vietnam Airlines.

On July 16, 2014, 170 passengers on the flight VN319 departing from Narita Airport safely landed in Da Nang international airport. This is the first direct flight of Vietnam Airlines taking off at 3.25 pm from Narita (Japan) to Da Nang. Therefore, Vietnam Japan Culinary Festival was held to celebrate this event and also to continue a series of cultural exchange programs between two countries.

The participants taking part in Vietnam Japan Culinary Festival consisted of Vietnamese art troupes and tourism enterprises, representatives of Japanese cities having close relations with Da Nang ( Sakai, Otawara, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, and Mitsuke, etc.), Japanese art troupes ( drums, calligraphy, kite flying ...), the Association of Japanese Enterprises in Da Nang, Vietnamese people, and Japanese tourists.

During the festival, a variety of special activities were organized to express the good relation of friendships, strategic partnerships and the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. Especially, the art troupes from two countries brought the festival a plenty of unique and vibrant repertoires, for instance, Bon Odori dance, bamboo dancing, the performance of traditional costumes (Ao Dai, Kimono and Yukata), martial arts demonstrations, and Vietnamese and Japanese calligraphy, etc.

Joining in the festival, visitors had many opportunities to take part in a great deal of activities including art booths, the art of growing bonsai trees, Kimono traditional costumes, comics, cartoons (manga - anime), booths of Vietnamese - Japanese cuisine, and so forth. In the booths of Vietnam - Japan cuisine, visitors had a chance to see the performance of culinary arts and decorative arts. In addition, the festivals also organized some booths providing information in fields of investment and recruitment of Japanese enterprises, study and tourism for students and local people in Da Nang.

Vietnam and Japan established the diplomatic relationship in 1973. From that time, two governments have been continued enhancing the close-knit relation between two countries through cooperation and exchanges. Vietnam Japan Culinary Festival is one of important festivals in Da Nang creating opportunities for Vietnamese and Japanese people to promote exchanges and build the mutual understanding. The festival also helped to enhance Vietnam Japan diplomatic relation in general and promote the development of economics, culture and tourism between two countries.
