Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien, who is acting as head of festival’s Direction Board affirmed that Young Fine Arts Festival 2014 show the care of the Party and State to young artists who will create works and art projects for today and tomorrow, contributing to the building of the Vietnam Fine Arts development in the future. Festival is also an opportunity for young artists to show off their talents, showcase and introduce excellence works to art-lovers at home and abroad as well. Simultaneously, the festival encourages the development of contemporary Vietnam Fine Art and promotes the creative spirit of young artists.
According to Deputy Minister, Fine Arts currently has to face lots of difficulties, it is not easily accessible to attract the public as other artistic fields. Through the launch as well as communication media agencies, the campaign will contribute to spread in public, “stir” Fine Art living in order that the Fine Art became an important part in the cultural life of residents.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirms that Young Fine Arts Festival is one of the most important festivals in Vietnam in 2014; therefore, related agencies have been well-prepared to make sure celebrate a successful event. The Ministry also promulgated Decision No.996/QĐ-BVHTTDL about establishing the Direction Board and the Organization Board for Young Fine Arts Festival 2014. Accordingly, the Direction Board consists of 03 members led by Deputy Minister Vuong Duy Bien. The Organization Board consists of 12 members led by Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, head of Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition. According to the Organization Board, the content of Young Fine Arts Festival 2014 is free composed theme, encourage themes of contemporary life; forms, trends, ideas, styles, unique creative penmanship; expressed technique, unique substances; high aesthetic, humanistic spirit and positively reflect social life...
Participants taking part in Fine Arts Festival 2014 are Vietnam's young artists aged from 18 to 35. Participant each sends a maximum of 2 works to Organization Board. Accordingly, works having participated in the festival should be composed during the period from 2011 to June 2014 and have not been announced at the any exhibitions in nationwide scale held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Art council will review works on display through two rounds. Round 1: participants will send their photos (for painting, graphics and sculpture) or CD recording works for contemporary art, installation and demonstration...to the Organization Board. Works passed over round 1 just continue to participate round 2 – final round to select on displaying and reward. In round 2, the Arts Council will re-evaluate the works. If the works is not reached on the content and form as selected in round 1, then it will not be displayed.
Young Vietnamese artists should send their participating works to Exhibition Center of Fine Arts and Photography, No.29 Hang Bai street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi from June 02 - 06, 2014. Organization Board will award 01 first prize, 02 second prizes, 03 third prizes and many other valuable prizes for the winning entries. Reportedly, Young Fine Arts Festival 2014 will be held at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, 42 Yet Kieu street, Hanoi in late- August, 2014.
