Ben Tre is a southwest province located in Mekong River Delta in Vietnam. Because of the weather and a thick system of rivers and canals, Ben Tre creates a Southern eco-tourism potential feature, with its lush orchards, coconut forests laden all year round. Coconut product is a well-known specialty of this land. In recent years, Coconut Festival is one the most typical festivals in Ben Tre. In 2015, this festival is estimated to be held from April 7 to April 13.

On June, 16th, 2014, Ben Tre Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism held a meeting about the implementation progress of the Fourth Ben Tre Coconut Festival project in 2015. According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, the project is on schedule. As estimated, during the event, a lot of meaningful and special activities occurred. Following are some special Ben Tre Coconut Festival activities will be took place in 2015:

1. Southern cuisine festival

Travel companies, hotels, restaurants, local tourism agents, and the other southern provinces will be invited to take part in eateries with impressive booths and the introduction of the distinctly culinary features, Southern specialties, especially coconut cuisines.

2. Parade Foat and Trade Fair

Parade Float will be held with a theme “The impressive land of coconut – Vietnam”. Folk art troupe, dragon dance, trumpet and drum teams will be performed on the parade float and car decorated by coconuts.

Trade Fair consists of approximately 300 booths, which will display, introduce and sell the quality product manufactured domestically to serve the needs of customers.

3. The Exhibition of Techmart technological equipments 2015 and the Display of Coconut Products

The Exhibition of Techmart - 2015 aims to display and introduce technological equipment served for production and manufacture, especially, the ones served for the development of the coconut industry. Besides, the Display of Coconut Products is to exhibit the achievement of the coconut industry consisting of:

Constructing a chronologically simulating models, charts, maps, pictures, documents about the process of planting, tending, harvesting, and manufacturing coconuts
Showing coconut’s brands
Displaying products awarded in contests

4. Seminars on “Applying Science in the Coconut Sector and the Use of Coconuts in Healthcare”

The goal of the seminar is to exchange scientific information and to introduce technological equipment served for planting, tending, harvesting and manufacturing coconuts with high quality, productivity and economic efficiency. In addition, scientific information about benefits of coconut products for human health is also provided.

5. Culture – Tourism Week

Ben Tre culture – tourism week will include many activities such as: composing poetry, holding coconut fashion contest, organizing cultural activities to serve residents and foreign tourists, organizing tours combined with promotion of the tour, and eco-tourism spot for travelers, holding active games for coconut farmers to participate.

Besides, many other outstanding activities like Coconut Space; the Honor of Coconuts, Coconut Products and Coconut Farmers and Manufacturer will be occurred. With these variety kinds of cultural activity Ben Tre Coconut Festival becomes one of interesting festivals in Vietnam.
