ASEAN Pride Music Festival 2015 held in Hanoi

Under the theme Celebrating Family, the 2nd ASEAN Pride Music Festival held by the Embassy of the United States of America in Hanoi and CAMA will take place from 13am to 23pm on Saturday on June 20, at the American Club, 19-21 Hai Ba Trung Street, Hanoi.

The 2nd ASEAN Pride Music Festival 2015 in Hanoi is an annual event organized to mark the 20 years of the normalization of diplomatic relations. The festival will have the participation of artists from the United States, Vietnam, and regional countries such as Thao & The Get Down Stay Down Music Band, Artist OJ Law (Malaysia), Yellow Fang Music Band (Thailand), COCC Band (Ho Chi Minh City), Lotus Disco (Ho Chi Minh City), To Lam & The Mix, American Rose & Akiu Kiu, and Queer Disco DJs...

Besides the exciting performances, the program also has the information community spaces, stalls of handicrafts, food and drinks. Also, there is a special booth to introduce the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) of US President Obama. The festival will be organized to raise the awareness on issues related to the community of lesbians, gays, bisexual, transgender (LGBT). ASEAN Pride 2015 honoring family values is a continuation of the 2014 ASEAN Pride Music Festival celebrating the diversity, creating a healthy space to honor the vibrant LGBT community in Vietnam as well as in the region, and to honor Family.

 

Thao and The Get Down Stay Down

 

To mark the 20th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the US and Vietnam, the Embassy of the United States in Hanoi and CAMA organize the 2nd annual ASEAN Pride Music Festival. Family honor will be the central theme of this year's festival, with the participation of artists from the United States, Vietnam and other countries in the region. The festival will be held from 13 am to 23 pm on Saturday, 20 June, at the American Club, 19-21 Hai Ba Trung Street, Hanoi. The festival aims to raise the awareness on issues related to the community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT). ASEAN Pride 2015 honoring family values is a continuation of ASEAN Pride in 2014 honoring diversity.

The US President Obama recently said that people should take this opportunity to define more the right of LGBT and to honor the personal pride; everyone has the right to live a life without scare, violence, and stigma, despite of who they are, and whom they love. He was very proud of the fact that the United States was having advances in diplomatic policy to prioritize the protection and raising awareness about the right of LGBT community in overseas. US Embassy in Hanoi will celebrate the 20th anniversary of normalization of diplomatic relations between the US and Vietnam with ASEAN Pride Music Festival 2015 with the participation of indie rock band from the United States, Thao Nguyen & The Get Down Stay Down, Vietnam Idol - Huong Giang Idol, and O.J. Law from Malaysia, female rockers of Yellow Fang from Thailand, COCC from Ho Chi Minh, To Lam, DJ Lotus Disco, and other artists.
