Rice paper is one of the favorite dishes in Saigon cuisine. Although dishes made from rice paper are simple, they are delicious. They bear cultural features of Saigon in particular and of Vietnam in general.

Vietnamese people can make many dishes with rice paper. Rice flour is diluted with water and some ingredients depending on tasted in different places. And then, the mixture is steamed and dried outside. Rice paper is used to make various dishes. So far, rice paper has become one of the typical dishes in Saigon. Although rice paper originates from another place, it has been adjusted to suit the taste of local people. Rice paper and roasted rice paper in particular are now a typical food of Saigon.

Mixed rice paper is one of the popular snacks in Saigon. Main ingredients of this dish are rice paper, fried salted shrimp, fragrant knotweed, sliced papaya or mango, soya sauce, roasted peanuts. In Nguyen Thuong Hien Street, there are many shops offering mixed rice paper. So, it was named street of mixed rice paper.

Visiting Saigon, you will have a chance to enjoy various dishes made of rice paper like roasted rice paper, mixed rice paper, etc. When we think of Saigon, we think of among other things, rice paper and vice-versa. Rice paper is popular nationwide. However, it’s the pride of Saigon people in particular and Vietnamese people in general.
