Song Xanh Sampan is considered as one of Mekong River deluxe cruises, which is designed by Mekong Horizontal Company in 2004. Nowadays, Mekong Horizontal Company is recognized as one among the leading private cruise in Mekong Delta River with a flotilla of 10 boats. This is a pioneering company in providing new cruise paths along with advanced services.

Song Xanh Sampan has two generous spaces of 15m2 which are decorated with bamboo and rattan furniture creating a cozy and charming ambiance. During the cruise, 4 dedicated crews will serve you attentive services. Each Song Xanh Sampan has 1 bed room, 1 living room that can be transformed into 1 more bedroom at night, 1 bathroom with WC, lavabo, and shower, 1 sundeck at the back where milks and drinks will be catered. Besides, each sampan will carry a row boat for deeper excursions along small canals and arroyos.

 

Being defined as one of private deluxe cruises in Mekong River, Song Xanh Sampan has only one bed room (and living room that can be transformed into 1 more bedroom at night) to create the most private space for passengers. Bed room amenities included cotton kimonos, rattan slippers, and fans. There are three options for you, which are double bed with silk bed covers and pillows , 2 rattan bed drawers; bedroom with 2 silk bed lamps lotus style, 1 rattan chest drawer; or bedroom, 1 rattan sofa with cotton pillows, water jacinth floor carpets (bed sides and front).

Song Xanh Sampan 2 days 1 night: Cai Be – Can Tho

 

Day 1: Saigon – Cai Be – Sa Dec – Can Tho

(Including lunch and dinner)

Around 8.00 am, you will be picked up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transferred to Cai Be. About 2 hours later, you will embark the cruise. Your Mekong River cruise will start in some local home factories where you can witness how local products such as rice paste, coconut candies, and other specialties are traditional made. Then, the sampan will proceed to Cai Be, a colorful and boisterous floating market and cruise among local barges full of tropical fruits and fresh vegetables. As Song Xanh takes direction to Vinh Long and Sa Dec and cruise upstream on Tien Giang River, you can enjoy the beauty of evergreen islands, large networks of meandering rivers crisscrossed with numerous arroyos. Later, the sampan will sail in a small beautiful canal through water jacinth plantations.

Taking a thrilling excursion by a small rowing boat is the highlight in this itinerary. The rowing boat will take you to visit a local tiny village, fruit plantations, one of the biggest artisanal bricks and tiles factory. When arriving in Sa Dec, you will be guided to explore this charming and peaceful town. Take a walk along its narrow streets, you can admire countless beautiful French old houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century.

Your lunch is served at an ancient house, which is known as home of Huynh Thuy Le, the “Lover” of Marguerite Duras. After enjoying your lunch and visiting this house, you will return to the sampan and continue your voyage in Mekong River. On the way cruising down to Can Tho along a narrow canal, you will have chance to admire wooden monkey bridges and tiny villages. The sampan will stop at some places on the banks where you can talk with locals and understand more about their life and their culture. In addition, a visit will be done at Cai Daist temple.

The last stop in this this day will be at an old house named “Nha Co”, which was built in 19 century. You will have a candlelight dinner at his house. After dinner, back on Song Xanh Sampan for relaxation as the cruise moves towards Can Tho. Enjoy your night on Mekong River.

 

Day 2: Cai Rang – Can Tho – Sai Gon

Let’s enjoy your breakfast at 7.00 am as Song Xanh Sampan sets sail to Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest one on Mekong River Delta. The sampan will cross through many local sampans of residents which carry rice, vegetables, fruits, sand, fishes, flowers, and so on. Therefore, you can first-hand witness and explore daily activities of inhabitants in Mekong. Your trip on Mekong River will end at 10.00 am as Song Xanh reaches at Ninh Kieu pier after visiting at Can Tho local market. You will be transferred to your hotel in Saigon.

Song Xanh Sampan 3 days 2 nights: Cai Be – Sa Dec – Cho Moi – Chau Doc

 

Day 1: Cai Be – Phu An – Dong Hoa Hiep – Vinh Long – Sa Dec

Around 7.30 – 8.00 am, you will be picked up at your hotel in Saigon and transferred to Vinh Long. About 2 hours later, you will embark Song Xanh Sampan and be welcomed with fresh cotton towels. Your trips will start in Cai Be floating market where you can explore daily activities of locals and see boisterous ambiance of the market with many local barges carrying full of tropical fruits and fresh vegetables. Then, stop at an ancient mandarin house dating from 1890, you will be welcomed by friendly and hospitable owners. Another further stop at some factories producing local products will allow you to witness how coconut candies, rice paste, and other specialties are made. As the sampan moves towards Phu An hamlet, you can see an pristine and beautiful area reflecting some of the best signs of Mekong River.

A delicious lunch will wait you at Le Longanier – a superb Indochinese villa located along riverbanks. In this place, you can also admire a lush tropical garden which is surrounded by fruit plantations. After savoring your lunch, as Song Xanh Sampan will cruise upstream on Tien Giang River, you can enjoy the beauty of evergreen islands, large networks of meandering rivers crisscrossed with numerous arroyos. Later, the sampan will sail in a small beautiful canal through water jacinth plantations.

After enjoying your breakfast, you will disembark Song Xanh Sampan for a visit in peaceful and charming town where you can take a stroll along its narrow streets and local market and admire the beauty of French old houses, Chinese temples, and Vietnamese Dinh. As returning onboard, Song Xanh will slowly leave Sa Dec and continue sailing upstream to Long Xuyen. En route, you can see many luxuriant islands and countless sampan boats which carry fishes, fruits and vegetables, rice, sand, etc. In midday, you will be served lunch onboard.

In the afternoon, you will have a quick tour around Long Xuyen center prior to sailing to Cu Lao Ong Ho (The Tiger Island) where you will have a short stop for visiting Ton Duc Thang Museum. Song Xanh Sampan will proceed upstream on Mekong River to Chau Doc. Along the way, the sampan will stop at some destinations for cycling tours inlands to further explore residents’ life style.

In the evening, you will attend in an exciting excursions to discover an ancient house located on riverbanks in the suburbs of Cho Moi. Your dinner will be served at this house. Besides, this is a great opportunity to talk with locals and learn about traditional Southern Vietnam lifestyle. Later on, return on the sampan and enjoy your second overnight on Mekong River.

 

Day 3: Cho Moi – Chau Doc – Saigon

In the early morning, your breakfast will be served as whilst Song Xanh cruise to Chau Doc. The sampan will cross through a little arm of Mekong where you can witness traditional activities such as artisanal boat factories, bamboo baskets making, palm leaves cutting, net fishing, etc. and see old Vietnamese temples dating from late 19th century. The sampan will arrive in Chau Doc in the late morning. Around at 11.00 am, you will get off the cruise at Chau Doc main city pier. Trip ends.
