Open Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies Center in Hanoi

The purpose of Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies Center in Hanoi is to study cultural similarities of the two countries, to create prerequisite for cultural exchanges and Azerbaijan comprehensive cooperation for general benefit of the two sides.

Attendants of the ceremony included representatives of Vietnam and Azerbaijan. On the side of Vietnam, there were Nghiem Vu Khai – Former vice Minister of Vietnam Science and Technology, Vuong Thua Phong – Deputy Head of the Central Commission for External Relations, Lieutenant General Tran Phuoc Toi – Former Director of Central Military Procuracy Institute, along with many high-ranking officers. On the side of Republic of Azerbaijan, there were Ambassador Anar Imanov Azerbaijan, his spouse and many staff other embassies. At the same time, the Center will develop, research, and introduce traditional, cultural and historical values of Vietnam and Azerbaijan to each other, which contribute to enhancing the mutual understanding of the two peoples and public diplomacy activities. The missions of the Center include the organization's activities such as researching, engaging in scientific research and services on historical, cultural issues of Azerbaijan, and Vietnam Azerbaijan relation based on mutual respecting, preserving and promoting the values of history and culture of each country. The organization also consulates historical - cultural matters in Vietnam Azerbaijan relations, coordinates with representatives of Azerbaijan Embassy in Vietnam to organize exchange activities for people who are interested in friendly, beautiful and hospitable Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Ngo Thi Kim Thu - Deputy Director of Azerbaijan Historical and Cultural Research Center said that the idea of ​​the research center was formed since the establishment of Republic of Azerbaijan Embassy in Hanoi. The idea was issued after an official visit to Vietnam by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan In-ham Aliev since 19/5 to 21/05/2014. With the help of Institute of policy, law and management, the interest of the Science and Technology Union of Vietnam, individuals and presidents of the Union, the collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Hanoi, the center was established in July 2014. The purpose of the center is to study cultural similarities of the two countries, to create prerequisite for cultural exchanges and Azerbaijan comprehensive cooperation for general benefit of the two sides. It will connect Vietnamese people who love and care about history and culture of Azerbaijan with the Azerbaijani people who love and care about Vietnam history and culture. The two sides signed the "Program on Cultural and Art Cooperation between Vietnam Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism". The participants agreed to increase the exchange delegations at all levels, student exchanges, as well as facilitate art groups to participate in international cultural and art festivals held in two countries.

About the plan of the Center in 2015, Mrs. Thu said that in the first quarter of 2015, the center will held a seminar with the theme "Cultural similarities of Vietnam and Azerbaijan. In addition, the Center will also collects memorabilia, documents, and photographs of Bacu to place in the traditional room of the center. Also, at the launching ceremony, Ambassador Azerbaijan Anar Imanov said that the historical and cultural research center is the achievement and effort of those who had close contacts to Azerbaijan. Mr. Anar shared that the coming activities of this center will expand the limitations of Azerbaijani history and culture. Simultaneously, it is expected that the center will become a bridge for Vietnamese students to have a chance to study in Azerbaijan.
