Formal celebration Vesak Day 2015 in Hanoi

Immersing in the exciting atmosphere of Vesak Day in the world, on June 1 morning at Quan Su Pagoda, Vietnam Central Buddhist Sangha and Hanoi board of Buddhism formally celebrated Vesak Day 2015 with many meaningful activities.

The Vesak Day 2015 in Hanoi had the participations of Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan - Member of the Political Bureau and Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, along with representatives of ministries, branches in Hanoi, embassies, and diplomatic organizations in Hanoi, leaders of Vietnam Buddhist Association, monks, and Buddhists. Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party, State, and Fatherland Front of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated the clergyman and all monks, Vietnamese and oversea Buddhists to have a joyful and passionate Vesak Day in Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan defined that reviewing the thousands years of Vietnamese Buddhism, the harmonious unity, ethnic accompany are always the guidelines for all activities of the Buddhist monks and Buddhists. It is is a solid foundation for building a common home of Buddhism in Vietnam, meeting the requirements of the common cause of the country.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan recognized that from inception to the present, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has always promoted harmoniously, unite and mobilized monks, Buddhists in Vietnam and abroad, to contribute positively in the innovation and development of the country. The monks and nuns, Buddhists and temples have had many contributions to the development of preschool education, social protection, vocational training, and medical care for the poor, building solidarity, HIV / AIDS, environmental protection, prevention and response to climate change... The association has maintained and developed the preaching programs in Europe, the Americas, Oceania and Buddhist pilgrimage...

International relations of the association continue to be expanded with hundreds of exchanging activities and seminars on Buddhism, culture and social charity with Buddhism in the region and in the world. The Vesak Day in Hanoi this year has contributed to enhance the position and role of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the good image of Vietnam to international friends. Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front appreciated and praised the results of operations as well as the positive contribution of the Buddhism association and all monks and Buddhists in Vietnam and abroad for the career of ethnic unity, building and protecting the country during the past 34 years. Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan believed that Buddhism in Vietnam will keep their reserving and promoting the tradition in the new period, enhance harmonious unity, improvement, and expansion. He expects that the Vietnam Buddhism Association would promote outstanding values, expand and improve the connection of Buddhism and other religions in Vietnam, and bring into play the patriotism.

In the message to the monks and Buddhist in Vietnam and abroad, Header of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha called to diligently practice, implement the lessons of the Buddha under a middle path, eliminate extremism, harmonically unite for the common Buddha, for the sake of the nation and serve the cause of a peace and happy life. Buddha's birthday this year is on the International Children's day (June 1), the leader of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha wished the Boards, Central Institutes of Buddhist Sangha Vietnam and branches to commit to care more for teenagers and children - the future of the country.

The message reminds the monastic establishment in the country to hold more summer retreats, creating a cultural space for youth to have healthy summer days, showing responsibility to the country with ethnic, social ethics with the challenges of cultural penetration of international integration period. The message also urged monks and Buddhists to pray and share with the victims and the people of Nepal because of the earthquake disaster in Kathmandu last sector. At the ceremony, Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan and representatives have jointly offered incense and performed the traditional ritual of bathing Buddha, released balloons and pigeons to pray for peace, sentient peace, and happiness.
