Increase extensive Vietnam Lao cooperation

Vietnam and Laos have been remaining their relationship for years. Each year, Vietnam Lao cooperation is upgraded in a new level. Recently, Vietnam and Laos organized meetings to further develop the relationship in many fields, especially in politics.

On November 1st, in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh), Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had talks with Deputy Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Laos - Somsavat Lengsavad on cooperation between provinces in South Central and Central Highlands of Vietnam and 7 provinces in central southern Laos. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciated traditional relation between Vietnam and Laos, especially 7 central southern provinces of Laos having intimately intertwined relations with Central Vietnam since war period up unitll now. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hoped local governments, people, organizations and businesses to continue tightening the ties of solidarity, commitment, along with helping each other develop comprehensively in both economy and society. He also affirmed Vietnam government will create favorable conditions for cooperations between provinces of the two countries. Highly appreciate the Vietnam Lao relationship and cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad stressed, the Politburo of the two countries had agreed to comprehensively and extensively cooperate not only between the two governments and bordering provinces, but also provinces without common border, especially in Binh Dinh and provinces in southern Laos.

 

Customs Cooperation between Vietnam and Lao

 

For over 10 years, the Vietnam Lao relation has been boosted, comprehensively and extensively in almost areas from Lao and Vietnam politics to economy and society. In particular, the south Central and Highlands of Vietnam and 7 provinces in southern Laos expanded in all areas of economy, society, culture, and education. Many Vietnam enterprises invested heavily in the Lao provinces in many areas. Many investment projects succeeded in a pattern like Agro-Industrial Project of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (Gia Lai), Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical - Medical Equipment JSC (Bidiphar)... Binh Dinh province alone, from 2000 to the present, the provincial enterprises have invested tens of millions of dollars in projects in 4 provinces of Champasak, Attapeu, Sekong and Salavan, which brings high efficiency. Also, Binh Dinh also twinned with Champasak and comprehensive supports to the department along with a number of other provinces. Currently, Binh Dinh province each year grants full scholarships for Lao students studying in Binh Dinh, simultaneously appoints experts in many fields to help provinces in economic and social development. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad visited and had a talk with Lao students at Quy Nhon University, visited Nhon Hoi economic zone and Quy Nhon-Binh Dinh Port.

 

Cooperation of Vietnam and Lao Youth Unions

 

International Conference on Vietnam Lao cooperation in building peaceful and friendly border, period 2014-2016 in the province Khammoune ended successfully after two working days (3-4 / 11). With the participation of Lao and Vietnamese political leaders, the two parties signed a joint statement, agreed to promote the extensive propaganda, to raise awareness of the strata, especially residents in two border areas about guidelines and policies, laws, solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Joint statement outlines the contents strengthening the construction and consolidation of the political system in border area, particularly in the construction of residential area with political stability, economic develoment, poverty reduction, defense and security of the bordering provinces. Also, such acts as sabotage, loss stability in border areas and divisions solidarity must be detected and prevented timely. Besides, the two sides will cooperate to organize cultural and sport exchange activities on national holidays of two countries. It is a need of enhancing activities of protecting borders, remaining friendship between two countries for the common benefit and sustainable development of Vietnam and Laos in the region and in the world.
