The launch of this website attracted attention from media and tourists. Many authorities and government officials, namely, the Vice Chairman of Lao Cai People’s Committee, leaders of departments of Information and Communication, Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with representatives of organizations and tourism companies were honored to inaugurate the website.
Lao Cai has many potential advantages of tourism development. Nonetheless, promotion of Lao Cai‘s image to domestic and international tourists is still limited. Therefore, the launch of this website contributes to improve the quality of Sapa tourism services, convey to tourists information, regulations, and procedures in term of tourism. Thereby, agencies, businesses and tourism companies are supported to exploit thoroughly potential tourism advantages; investment from domestic or international organizations is stimulated.
According to the report published recently by the department of Sapa tourism management, the number of tourists to Lao Cai, especially Sapa is increasing enormously. In the first quarter of 2014, this number has reached 133,864, half as many people again this time last year. The number of tourists is anticipated to rise by 268 thousand turns in the next quarter. Therefore, to meet the demand of tourists, besides improving the quality of services, accommodation, landscapes and traditional festivals, authorities are aware of the need for an official tourism website to provide latest information fully. Once coming to operation, the website is expected to promote the image of Sapa in particular and Lao Cai in general all over the world.
Lao Cai tourism website is represented in 3 languages: Vietnamese, English and Chinese. It is also linked to other official portals, websites of the province. The portal contains useful information in terms of news, policies, law documents, accommodation, cuisine, entertainment, destinations, and tourism companies. In addition, the website also provides tours and hotels booking services. Tourists also can search for any useful information related to traffic, banks, shopping malls, hospitals, police stations, and even notes when travelling Lao Cai. All are up-to-date.
Ms. Ha Thi Nga, the Vice Chairman of Lao Cai People’s Committee stated that the operation of the official tourism website would create an information channel to public policies of government and provinces on management and administration of tourism. The portal also enables agencies and companies to keep up with the need and want of tourists from which they can improve services appropriately. Simultaneously, she also assigned the management of the website to provide information in a timely manner, research and propose projects of technological application to develop tourism, and support companies to build trademark on the Internet.
