Tourists flock to Sapa to see snow

From January 9th, the outside temperature in Sapa has significantly fell and reached the lowest number. According to the record kept by reporters, currently, snow is falling in many areas in Sapa involving Tram Ton, O Quy Ho, and the town center.

Presently, in Sapa, roads, trees, crops, and roofs... everything seems to be covered in white and heavy snow. Snow covered everything from horizon to horizon. Snowfall is an uncommon phenomenon of Vietnam - a tropical climate country, thereby, when snow started falling in Sapa, a flock of tourists traveling here to witnessing this rare phenomenon. In spite of the freezing weather, since January 9th when the snow started falling in Sapa, a large number of young Hanoians arriving here to see snow and capture beautiful photographs in the interesting natural phenomenon. Especially, Sapa in these days welcomes not only local people but also international travelers visiting and experiencing snowfall in Sapa. It was estimated that until January 10th, there were over 3,000 travelers flocking here. In Tram Ton Pass, up to 4.00 pm in the same day, there were nearly 1,000 tourists entering into this area and Love Waterfall to admire snow.

Because of falling at the weekend, this number was significantly increased, therefore, many roads in Sapa fell into congested situation. At present, in the Northern part of Vietnam like Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, the weather is severely cold, nonetheless, this fact does not prevent the flow of people traveling to Sapa. Accordingly, the snow was heavily falling, as a results, the segment in Highway 4D from Sapa to Lai Chau, all vehicles met troubles in moving in this segment because of the slippery road surfaces and the fog. In spite of this fact, the number of vehicles crossing here was very crowded. However, it is noted that there is a good news for those who would like to visit Sapa at this time. In details, after many efforts of the authorities, in the early morning of January 10th, the segment from Sapa to Lai Chau in Highway 4D can be put into operation again.

Along with Sapa, at Y Ty Commune, Bat Xat District, snow is falling with the thick of 10 centimeters. According to National Centre for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting, the weather patterns in Sapa this year is nearly similar to ones in mid-December in the previous year. Nonetheless, the cold air waves are weaker, hence, the snowfall is not as thick as in 2013. After the opening of Hanoi - Lao Cai Expressway and the appearance of Sapa snowfall in recent years, Sapa is becoming more and more attractive to both domestic and international travelers. Currently, there are many choices for Sapa tour packages with attractive rates from 60 dollars/guest. To enjoy Sapa beauty but still keep healthy in these days, travelers are advised to bring warm clothing and other necessary items like scarf, knitted hat, gloves, etc. Tourists should wear more layers of clothing to keep the body temperature stable.
