Halong Bay entered top 8 green places and national parks in Asia

Agoda.com, the leading hotel-booking website in Asia has recently announced the list of top 8 green spaces/ national parks in Asia. It is a great honor for Ha Long Bay to be ranked at 4th place in the list.

Agoda.com is an online travel agency based in Singapore. It offers booking services through its website and mobile app in 38 languages. The site is known for its service providing discount rooms and its accommodation system which offers from luxury hotels, resorts to affordable hostels.  It is reported as the largest and most popular booking sites in Asia.

The list honors national parks which are in possession of beautiful natural landscapes suitable for sightseeing trips and outdoor activities. The poll result is based on reviews and comments of tourists on Agoda.com as well as on analysis of booking information. Halong Bay is graded 4.23 over 5 points.

Halong Bay has an area of 1,553 square kilometers, including 1969 islands of various sizes, of which 989 have been named. The bay is bounded by Cat Ba Island in the southwest, the sea in the east and the mainland in the west with a coastline of 120 kilometer.

There are two kinds of islands in Halong Bay, limestone and schist islands. Those islands are the result of geological movement from mainland into sea about 500 million years ago. The caxto process of corrosion and weathering has virtually create a whole new land, today known as islands in Halong Bay which possesses a unique beauty in the world. It looks like a green chiffon scarf attached with thousands sparkling rubies of various sizes.

Thien Cung Cave

With precious values of aesthetics, geology, geomorphology, Halong Bay has been recognized as a natural wonder of the world by UNESCO for two times in 1994 and in 2000. Especially, in 2012, Halong Bay was recognized as one of new seven natural wonders of the modern world by New 7 Wonders organization.    

Along with Halong Bay, other 7 green spaces/ national parks includes Hallasan National Park of South Korea, Taroko National Park of Taiwan, Osaka castle park of Japan, Ang Thong National Marine Park of Thailand, Penang National Park of Malaysia, and Rizai Park of Philippines.
