According to The New York Times, Son Doong Cave was named in 52 Places to go in 2014. After being explored in 2009, Son Doong has attracted attention of many international press such as BBC, National Geographic, Huffington Post, and so forth.

Along with Son Doong, worldwide attractions also have presence on top 8 of the list are Cape Town (South Africa), Christchurch (New Zealand), North Coast (California), Albanian Coast, Downtown Los Angeles, Namibia, and Ecuador. Currently, Son Doong Cave is a familiar name on a map of tourists when visiting Vietnam. Prior to New York Times, many other well-known tourism websites such as Telegraph, National Geographic, Business Insider... also published articles to introduce about the beauty of Son Doong Cave. Especially, according to the prediction of Huffingtonpost, Son Doong Cave will be one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world in the next 20 years.

Since 2013, the Government of Quang Binh Province approved to run pilot tours in Son Doong Cave. It is expected that in 2015, Son Doong Cave tours will be opened from February. These adventurous tours will be operated from February to August. Meanwhile, from September to January is a flooding season, therefore, there is no tour to be organized. Accordingly, travelers can register Son Doong tours from November 12th, 2014. Accordingly, before embarking on each tour, travelers need to participate in a meeting to learn about common rules and safety's instructions. Due to the limited numbers of tourists permitted to attend in Son Doong Cave tour each year, it is estimated that there were about 600 foreign visitors earlier booked this tour. The price of Son Doong tour will include hotel's cost, service's fee, and accommodation at Sun Spa Resort. As expected, a team of 30 staffs will serve a group of 10 travelers. These staffs will consist of UK specialists and concierges.

Currently, David W.Lloyd - a New Yorks Time journalist - issued an article "Deep in Vietnam, Exploring a Colossal Cave" to describe his trip in Son Doong. Accordingly, this is not the first time he visits Vietnam. Earlier, W.Lloyd set foot in Sapa and Halong Bay. According to W.Lloyd's description, his tour Son Doong was more impressive than his previous trip in Vietnam: "In Son Doong’s vast caverns, forests of 100-foot-tall trees thrive in spaces big enough to accommodate 40-story skyscrapers. Colossal 260-foot stalactites, not to mention monkeys, horn bills and flying foxes, are also found in Son Doong’s surreal habitat, first fully explored in 2009".

Son Doong Cave belongs to the system of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh province. The cave was discovered by British Royal Cave Research Association in 2009. Son Doong Cave was formed from 2 - 5 million years ago with the width of 150m, the height of over 200m, and the length of at least 5km. With this dimension Son Doong is the largest caves in Vietnam and in the world.
