Cooperate to develop cave tours in Vietnam and Australia

To preserve natural world heritages in Vietnam, recently cave tours in Vietnam and Australia have been developed. According to the cooperation, Son Doong Cave, the biggest cave in the world will be more protected and preserved.

Consulate General of Vietnam in Perth, Australia collaborated with the Tourism Association of Augusta Margaret River, Regional Development Committee in the southwest of Australia to celebrate cave twinning agreement between Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Tourism Association of Augusta Margaret River. Vietnam Australia cave tourism cooperation ceremony took place in late February at Cave Lake in Margaret River City in the West of Australia. Agreement on proposal promoted and coordinated in tourism geological caves in Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Vietnam and Margaret River area in the Western are of Australia.

The agreement also proposed cooperation on improving management of caves, disseminating information about these two places at the international level, implementing joint projects to bring general benefit, conducting researches about environmental management system for caves and development of professional activities, and training of staff... matching content agreement. This can be considered a new signal for Son Doong Cave located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang (Quang Binh - Vietnam), to be preserved. Earlier, Prime Minister approved plans on preserving Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park by 2030. In particular, the plans define clear objectives to preserve the status quo and the integrity of the National World Heritage, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, in conjunction with the ecological conservation in Hin Nammo of Laos and Annamite Mountains. Son Doong Cave is situated in the chain of Phong Nha Caves and Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, so the decision will become the "holy grail" for scientific experts and film crew to discover the magnificence of the world's largest cave.

Besides, it also confirms a philosophy that heritage must be preserved for the long-term development. It is uneatable; it is not divided into pies to distribute to any individual or group. This is a cooperation agreement to promote first geological cave tourism in the world. Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Le Viet Duyen believed that the cooperation agreement between the two countries with potential for tourism development will contribute to promoting tourism in Vietnam and in Australia, research collaboration, people exchange to make up full understanding between two countries based on a comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

The Consul General also expressed his hope in Vietnam - Australia tourism cooperation will be the first step toward building friendly cooperation relations between cities, corresponding regions of the two countries, bringing new development opportunities for the benefit of local people in Vietnam and Australia. Administrative representatives of the State of Western Australia, Minister Terry Redman confirmed the desire of states in promoting close relations with Vietnam. Mr. Redman expressed his pleasure about the trade turnover between Vietnam and Western Australia increasing by 150% over the previous two years, reaching 1.185 billion AU dollar in 2014, as well as the development of cultural and educational cooperation.

According to him, the cooperation agreement between the promotion of tourism in Augusta-Margaret River in Australia and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam will contribute to promote further cooperation in the field of tourism, people exchange, providing opportunities to develop and practical benefits for both regions. Speaking to journalists, President of the Augusta Margaret River Tourism, Mr. Trent Bartlett said that the goal of this partnership relation is improving the image and strengthening the promotion of the two countries as well as the recognition about geological knowledge of tourism at the international level. Mr. Don Punch, CEOr of the Southwest Development Committee also confirmed that the agreement was the first step towards a very impressive cooperation development at the regional level, in order to bring benefits to the province of Quang Binh and South West of Western Australia.
