Accordingly, the welcome ceremony to receive the World Natural Heritage Certificate for Trang An complex will take place in three days, from January 22nd to 24th, 2015 with many meaningful activities in Bai Dinh Pagoda Convention Center, Hoa Lu District, Gia Vien and in the city center. This event is also one of activities of welcome National Tourism Year 2015. This is a good opportunity to introduce and promote typical values of Trang An complex and tourism potentials of Ninh Binh Province. To celebrate this special event, Ninh Binh City are preparing a plan to organize many programs and activities such as firework display in 15 minutes; international scientific conference on the management, conservation and promotion of World Heritage values; exhibition to introduce World Heritage Sites in Vietnam; art stamp and photo gallery about Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex; and fair displaying typical products of traditional handicraft villages.
Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex is one of integrated tourist attractions in Ninh Binh including cultural and natural heritage. Many landscapes here were recognized as special national monuments of the country like Trang An Eco-tourism complex, Tam Coc - Bich Dong, Bai Dinh Pagoda, and Hoa Lu Ancient Capital. The complex is located in the boundary area between Hoa Lu District, Gia Vien, Nho Quang (Tam Diep Town) and Ninh Binh City. This is considered a highlight destination of the South East Asia and also has significant meaning all over the world. In details, conducting research at Trang An, scientists can discover how prehistoric people affect the nature and adapt to environmental changes during ten thousands of years.
Outstanding universal values of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex were recognized by the World Heritage Committee basing on three main pillars which are cultural criteria, aesthetic beauty, geology - geomorphology; ensuring the integrity and authenticity; and implementing an ensuring full implementations of the protection and management of the heritage. With cultural criteria, Trang An contains evidences of the interaction between humans and nature and the human adaptation to environmental changes. In aesthetic beauty criteria, karst landscapes of Trang An complex have natural beauty with majestic mountains, mysterious caves, tranquil river, sacred shrines and temples. With geology - geomorphology criteria, Trang An provides testament to the last periods of karst processes in the humid tropical climate. With such special values, in June 2014, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was recognized as the world cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO.
