Visiting relics and museums in Vietnam for free in 4 days

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Traditional Day of Culture branch, under the the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, all relics and museums in Vietnam will be opened for free from 25-28 August 2015.

Accordingly, on the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Traditional Day of Culture sector (28/6 /1945 - 28/6/2015) and to welcome the 2nd Congress of patriotic emulation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asked leaders of city and provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to steer museums, management board of  World Heritages in Vietnam, and city management board of historical relics to focus on implementing a number of tasks. The Ministry also requested the Departments to actively organize and coordinate to held thematic exhibits, educational activities at museums, and monuments with the contents: Propaganda, traditional education, introduction of achievements and contributions of the cultural sector over 70 years of development (1945-2015). The implementation time is in August 2015. Monuments and museums in Vietnam will be opened for free visiting from 25 August to 28 August 2015. The organization of this celebration aims to bring the strength of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry into play as a multi-disciplinary and multi-sector. Thereby, it creates motivational spirit, cheers, encourages cadres and civil servants, workers in the whole sector of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote the tradition in the spirit, responsibility, initiative, creativity, and quantity and effectiveness improvement.

Inside National Museum of Vietnamese History

Some of famous museums in Vietnam that tourists should not miss to visit are museums in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. For example, Vietnam Museum of History came into being in 3 September 1958 on the basis of inheriting Louis Finot Museum built by the French in 1926. Vietnam Museum of History is the home to artifacts reflecting cultures and history of Vietnam from early dawn to the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Here, there are many precious artifacts reserved such as Dong Song Bronze Drum, Bat Trang ceramic items, Shiva Deity Statue, and wood piles in Bach Dang Battle... The Indochina-architectural style museum is located at 1 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Vietnam Museum of History in In Ho Chi Minh City was built in 1929, as former Blanchard de la Brosse Museum. Vietnam History Museum is the largest museum and also the first one in the city. At present, the museum possesses various galleries with nearly 30,000 valuable artifacts. It consists of 2 areas: One area is the gallery with artifacts of Vietnam history from early dawn to 1930 when Vietnam Communist Party was born. Another is themed exhibition with featured characteristics of Southern Part of Vietnam such as Oc Eo Culture, Mekong River Delta ancient culture, Cham art, Ben Nghe Saigon, and parts of Vietnam ethnic groups... The museum is located at 2 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh Museum

Ho Chi Minh Museum is one of the biggest museums in Vietnam. This is the "research center of historical artifacts and documents relating to the life and activities of President Ho Chi Minh during his revolutionary struggle, mass propaganda, and education of business ideas, morality and his behavior. The museum is situated at 19 Ngoc Ha Street in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. In this area, there are other historical relics such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, and One Pillar Pagoda... creating an attractive historical complex appealing domestic and international tourists. Vietnam War Remnants Museum was established in 4 September 1975 with its former name as Exhibition House for US and Puppet Crimes. In 1990, the museum was called Exhibition House for Crimes of War and Aggression. In July 1995, the museum was official renamed War Remnants Museum. The museum exhibits images of Vietnam War with themes of US soldier massacring, torturing, imprisoning, and spraying with toxic chemicals to destroy the North of Vietnam. Artifacts as aircrafts, artillery, tanks, and two compartment of "tiger cages" built in Con Dao Prison. The galleries on the wars in the southwest border, a war to protect the northern border, the issue of the Spratly Islands, and the plot of the hostile forces... The museum is located at 28 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

War Remnants Museum

Hanoi Museum, previously located at 5B Ham Long Street in Hoan Kiem District, is a place where there are exhibitions on Hanoi Capital. Hanoi Museum lies in the area of Vietnam National Convention Center in My Dinh. The Museum has a structure in form of bottom-up pyramid, the 4th floor of which is the largest one. Being established in 1982, the museum owns tens of thousands of artifacts, 7 thousands of which are precious antiquities. The museum's artifacts collection consists of stone, bronze, ceramics of the Ly, Tran, Le and Nguyen dynasties, and ceramics from China and Japan... Ho Chi Minh City Museum is located at 65 Ly Tu Trong Street in Ho Chi Minh City, not far from City Hall. The museum has a large building of over 1,200 meters square. It has a Classic - Renaissance European and Asian design. The facade of the building features the Western style, while the roof has an Oriental feature. Surrounding the building is a lush green garden in trapezoid shape surrounded by four roads. This is a museum displaying memorabilia of former Saigon history and historical periods from the war against French colonialism to Ho Chi Minh Campaign. In addition, the museum is a historical site in the formation of Saigon - Gia Dinh. There are many Vietnamese museums that are opened for free visit in the time coming.
