Airbus A330neo is a wide-body jet aircraft of Airbus. It was developed from Airbus A330 aircraft. A new version with modern engines comparable to those developed for the Boeing. It exclusively uses the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000. The Airbus A330neo has two versions based on the A330-200 and -300: the -800 with a range of 15,090 km and a capacity of 257 passengers. The -900 has a range of 13,330 km with a capacity of 287 passengers.
- At the Boeing 787 launch in 2004, the first response of Airbus was an improved A330.
- In December 2010, the owner of AirAsia wanted to restructure the A330.
- On July 14, Airbus launched the A330neo program at Farnborough Airshow.
- On September 7, 2015, Airbus announced its first A330neo aircraft production.
- In September 2016, the first A330-900 aircraft completed the final assembly.
- In December 2016, the first aircraft was painted and waiting for its engine.
- On October 19, 2017, the first flight of the A330-900 aircraft took place.
- In October 2017, the main structures of the first A330-800 were put into production.
- In November 2017, Airbus began the final assembly of the A330-800.
- On September 26, 2018, the Airbus A330neo aircraft received an EASA certificate and was delivered to TAP Air Portugal.
- On November 26, 2018, the first A330-900 was delivered to TAP Air Portugal.
- On December 15, TAP Air Portugal operated its first commercial flight from Lisbon to Sao Paulo.
- In 2019, the airline received 15 A330neo aircrafts. It would operate flights from Lisbon to Chicago O'Hare and Washington Dulles from June 2019, two times per week.
