Located on the National Highway 1A at the gateway to Da Nang, Hue T-junction overpass is expected to ease traffic congestion and reduce accidents there. Nga ba Hue, or Hue T-junction, receives more than 15,000 car arrivals and hundreds of thousands of motorbike arrivals every day. It is considered an accident-prone spot in the city. Being approved by Ministry of Transportation, on March 29, Da Nang People's Committee organized the inauguration of Hue T - junction and put it into operation on the occasion of 40th anniversary of Da Nang Liberation Day (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2015). According to authority of Da Nang City, the completion of the torus interchange Hue T-junction will contribute to reducing congestion, traffic accidents, promoting the growth of economy, trade, services, and tourism in Da Nang in particular and of the Central Highlands region in general.
It is a beautiful architecture positioned at the gateway of the city, worthy to the expectation of Da Nang people. It will be the iconic building of the city, confirming the position of Da Nang City as the central of economy, politics, culture, and society of provinces in Central Highlands. The building has a total investment capital of more than 2,050 billion dong. It is designed with three layers to re-organize the flow of traffic routes in Hue – Da Nang T-junction, with 4-lane vehicle traffic in Da Nang City: to the north, to the south, to city center, and to Nguyen Tat Thanh Beach. The floors include layer of cable-stayed road for all motor vehicles traveling to the north and Da Nang City center; layer of roundabout allowing 4-direction transport line; and ground layer allowing motor vehicles to circulate with one direction. There is also pedestrian path, and a bridge for rudimentary vehicles to cross rail way. Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang said at the inauguration ceremony: “This is not only a construction contributing to Da Nang City’s development but also a major part of the national highway upgrade plan.”
Mr. Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee said that the project was set for a long time to solve traffic congestion at intersections during more than 40 years. The total length of the bridge is more than 1,700 meters with nearly 9,000 pillars, nearly 6,400 ton of steel, more than 35,000 cubic meters of concrete. Architectural plan of Hue T-junction was approved base on the confluence of the ancient Cham people in Da Nang. The idea of overall architecture of Hue T-junction intersections includes a parabolic tower with a roundabout surrounding, stylized shapes of Linga and Yoni symbolizing the vitality and intense creativity of humanity. Hue intersection is established as a complete torus associated with overpassing three layer bridge. After the inauguration, Hue T-junction is officially put into operation, used and circulated in three main roades of Dien Bien Phu, Ton Duc Thang and Truong Chinh. Particularly, the fourth branch to the northwest is added by Ministry of Transport later (running from the roundabout to Nguyen Nhu Hanh Road) will be completed at the end of April 2015 to connect to Project 1 Northwest. This inauguration contributes significantly in the development of transportation in Da Nang in particular and in Central Vietnam in general.
