Ms. Pho Nam Phuong, Director of Investment and Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC) has said that this is the fourth time ITPC hold the annual event of investment and trade promotion in Myanmar, under the direction of People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and approval of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Myanmar Ministry of Commerce.
Vietnam enterprises will introduce a wide variety of products of processed foods, plastics, household products, electrical appliances, textiles, cosmetics, footwear, furniture, and so on. In addition, the fair will also exhibit 20 booths of Myanmar enterprises. In area of “Common House”, ITPC will collaborate with Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) to hold a photo exhibition about friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Myanmar, which introduces tourists about achievements in economy, politics, culture and society of Vietnam in general and of Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
Vietnam enterprises participating in the fair will directly introduce products to consumers, simultaneously, seek partners to establish business relations, build distribution channels of Vietnam products in Myanmar market. A large number of new products in Vietnam market will be displayed in the fair. Especially, 22 Vietnamese cuisine booths of Bing Quoi Tourist Village under Saigontourist Company will be the new feature in this year’s expo.
Currently, several Vietnam enterprises in consumer goods sector have distributors in Yangon and Mandalay such as Saigon Cosmetics Joint Stock Company, Rang Dong Plastic Company, Saigon Plastic Company, Dai Dong Tien Joint Stock Company, and Cadivi Vietnam Power Cable Joint Stock Company. It is reported that Vietnam enterprises are interested in many different areas in Myanmar, namely, markets of fast consumer goods like food processing, beverages, plastics, household appliances, textiles, cosmetics, dairy, pharmaceuticals, handicrafts, electrical appliances; markets of raw material supply like mechanical business, furniture, plastic pipe manufacture, plastic pallets, plastic basket used in agricultural factories, steel pipes, construction materials, wire and cable. Besides, enterprises in sectors of jewelry business, banking, and tourism are interested in Myanmar market as well.
In addition to the expo, ITPC will organize a conference connecting trade between Vietnam and Myanmar. According to Phuong, many Businesses in Vietnam have proposed ITPC to introduce to them Myanmar enterprises that are willing to be their partners, to organize meetings for enterprises of both countries to improve their business relations, and to hold more expos like this for them to display their products in Yangon and Mandalay. This year, there will be meetings between enterprises of both countries in jewelry sector participating in auction fair in Naypyi daw from June 14th to July 7th 2014.
