And, currently in Ho Chi Minh City, there are three typical units serving water puppetry. They are Phuong Nam Theater, Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theater, and Saigon Water Puppetry Troupe. The unique art came into being around 1121, under the power of Ly Nhan Tong King. It is about time that the historians and archaeologists evaluated as the period of Vietnam art and culture flourished. Vietnamese Water Puppetry contributes to reconstructing the daily life of ancient Vietnamese peasants - a long-lasting wet rice culture. The unique art taking water surface as theatrical stage has been always preserved, protected, organized diversely, and welcomed by a large number of on-lookers with fascinating, charismatic performances. Through the traditional entertainment art, audience has more time to understand about history and multiple colors of life and daily customs of ancestor. For tourists coming to Vietnam, Water Puppet shows are always "special meals" that they want to enjoy when coming to Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the plan, from now until the end of 2015, the group will invest a long puppet play echoing Southern folk. Mr. Tran Loc - Director of Saigon Water Puppetry Troupe shared that there had been a time that the water puppetry had been forgotten. Therefore, he and his friends who were dedicated to the art started to rebuild and perform to promulgate, preserve and develop water puppetry in Vietnam. They would try their best to connect educational and tourist units to bring the unique art into play best. Beside, they hoped to reserve and promote other art forms more to the public such as Boi singing, Don Ca Tai Tu, and other traditional folk games. With Boi singing art, they were trying to build tourist destinations serving domestic and international audiences at the tomb of Mr. Ba Chieu, in Binh Thanh District.
