Vietnam Airlines hosts annual SkyTeam Meeting

During two days November 19-20, 2014 in Hanoi, Vietnam Airlines held annual SkyTeam Meeting for the first time. The airlines also hosted many events in the framework of the meeting.

This is one of two important annual meetinga of SkyTeam, with the participation of leaders of 20 airline members in the alliance, to strengthen cooperation between airlines and the alliance, to promote the development of key projects as Sky Priority, SkyTranfer, Skyport, SkyLink, and FFP-Connectivity, and to improve the quality of customer services at the airports of alliance. The program SkyTransfer which is deployed throughout the alliance includes many projects contributing to improvement of flight experience of customers. Every year, Vietnam Airlines and the SkyTeam airline members serve more than 30 million customers and interline with alliance members. Meanwhile, SkyPriority program serves high-end customers (customers of First Class, Business Class, and Elite Plus).

According to CEO of SkyTeam, Michael Wisbrun, annually, SkyTeam carries about 612 million passengers worldwide. Every day conducts more than 16 thousand flights to 1,064 destinations in 177 countries and territories. The highlights of SkyTeam's network system is that it operates under the axis principle axis, enabling convenience in connecting flights and easier for passengers to use the services of member airlines in the alliance from the starting point to anywhere in the world. This also connects and expands the network of member airlines with each other. For example, Vietnam Airlines has not open routes to American, and Delta Airlines (USA) has not had flights to Vietnam. However, through a collaborative partnership that the two companies still have the ticket sales for visitors to the United States and Vietnam.

According to many passengers, SkyTeam is a leading global alliance, connecting passengers via the establishment of a solid base at the global airports based on flights network covering about 90 % of the world major routes. The members of SkyTeam set up the development plan 2015, in which the main purpose is to discuss the orientation and action programs to improve the quality of service, guarantee smooth and efficient flights, and increase customer experiences on each flight. In recent years, with the goal of providing passengers with high quality products and perfect services, SkyTeam has been implementing a number of key projects in the airport or terminals, providing customers with high and consistent both ground and air quality service including Vietnam Airlines flights and the flights of 19 other members that Vietnam Airlines participates in operating.

 

Vietnamairlines join skyteam

 

Vietnam Airlines officially became a member of SkyTeam as Level A - the highest level of SkyTeam from June 10, 2010. With the close cooperation of the flight network, Vietnam Airlines has been expanding route network and participating in the exploitation of international airlines in other regions in the world, while helping the SkyTeam members conveniently connect with Vietnam Airlines flight network in Southeast Asia. Thereby, it enhances the image of Vietnam Airlines brand as well as contributes to improving national prestige on the international market.

SkyTeam was founded in 2000. It is a coalition of the two largest global airlines. SkyTeam offers passengers the utility services of airline members with more choices of destinations and flights frequencies worldwide. Up to now, SkyTeam has 20 official members including Aeroflot, Aerolíneas Argentinas, Aeromexico, Air Europa, Air France, Alitalia, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Czech Airlines, Delta Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Kenya Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air, Middle East Airlines, Saudia, TAROM Rumanian Air Transport, Vietnam Airlines and Xiamen Air.
