In the series of activities to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Hanoi Liberation Day (10/10/1954 - 10/10/2014), a fireworks display lasting during 15 minutes from 9.00 - 9.15 pm in 30 venues in Hanoi brought people a wonderful "light party". Fireworks were let off in 30 venues in 30 districts and towns of the city, in which, there were 5 high-range shows at Hanoi Post Office (Hoan Kiem Lake), Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung District), Lac Long Quang Park (Tay Ho District), My Dinh National Stadium (South Tu Liem District), and Van Quan Lake (Ha Dong District).
Although a fireworks display in 30 venues would officially let off at 9.00 pm on October 10th, in the afternoon of this day, many people gathered in these locations. As usual, Hoan Kiem Lake is the most beautiful and ideal venue for seeing the firework display, therefore, the Lake attracted the biggest number of people flocking here in comparison to other points. As estimated, before 9.00 pm, there were thousands of people gathered around Hoan Kiem Lake and eagerly waited for the expected moments. Besides, the remaining 29 venues were also filled to capacity before 9.00 pm. At the time of 8.40 pm, according to the correspondent's record, the main roads leading to West Lake area, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh National Stadium, Thong Nhat Park, and Lac Long Quan Park were overcrowded. In addition, hundreds of people flocked to main roads from small alleys and corners and waited for scared moments of the city. The atmosphere became hotter and hotter before a time of displaying fireworks. Everyone was so eager to enjoy the firework display.
At 9.00 pm, the first fireworks exploded in Hoan Kiem Lake in the shouts of excited onlookers. At the same time, 29 other venues also let off the fireworks. Hanoi night sky was shimmering with multicolored fireworks bringing thousands of people joy and happiness. "Fireworks flowers" bloomed in every color in the sky along with the cheers of thousands of people, including both citizens and tourists as well. The sky of Hoan Kiem Lake on the big event of the capital looked like a picturesque photo with colorful and diverse-shaping fireworks. The radiance and pride was expressed in the face of all citizens.
Mingling in the line of thousands people, Mr. Hai (82 years old, Hanoi citizen) happily shared: In spite of being tired, I tried to go with MY neighbors to welcome the big event of Hanoi capital. Bien Linh (23 years old, Hanoi citizen) with the red face because of jostling among hundreds of people said that although she felt a little bit tired after a long working day, she still went out with her families to see fireworks display on the occasion of the capital's Liberation Day.
In addition to firework display, in the evening of October 10th, thousands of flower lights were dropped off into the West Lake (Tay Ho District). This activity aimed to commemorate the virtues of soldiers who died for protecting the independence and freedom of the nation. Besides, many other programs were organized on this day such as art shows at the stage of August Revolution Square and Ly Thai To Statue, a fashion show at Temple of Literature. Residents and tourists had a very special Hanoi night to learn more about Hanoi culture and share the joy and the pride of a land thousands of years of civilization.
