Recently, Cherry Blossom Festival 2015 approved by Tourism, Sports and Culture Ministry will take place from April 11 to 12 in Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi. The festival will be organized in accordance with the regulation on holding festivals in Vietnam, simultaneously, coordinated with local authority to ensure the success and safe of the festival. Under the plan, the Cherry Blossom Festival this year, apart from notable activities like yosakoi traditional dancing performance, contest of voting, performing cosplay, and Japanese martial arts demonstrations (Okonomi yaky or Tako yaki...). This is one of the most expected festivals in Hanoi in April 2015.
The most highlight of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Hanoi is the activity of planting cherry blossom trees, exhibitions, take-picture area with flower, and Sakura flower introduction area, along with arranging and decorating Sakura trees in the festival. Japan Cherry Blossom Festival in Hanoi will bring a beautiful scenery and exciting atmosphere like those in Japan. The event is held to welcome the 40th anniversary of Southern Vietnam Liberation Day and Vietnam Reunification, and 42nd anniversary of Japan and Vietnam diplomatic relation. Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival was firstly organized in 2007 at Nui Truc Japanese Center in Hanoi. The festival attracted a large number of Vietnamese people, especially the youth. This was considered one of the most outstanding events in the year with the purpose of introducing Japanese culture and people to Vietnamese people. The event is one of the most outstanding Japan festivals in Hanoi attracting a large number of the youth in Hanoi.
Some days ago, in Halong City, Halong Cherry Blossom Festival 2015 took place successfully. This is an annual festival organized by Halong People's Committee in the coordination with Japan Wanokai International Culture Association. This is the third Cherry Blossom Festival taking place in Halong. It is also an important Japan festivals in Vietnam. There were 12 Japanese children living in vulnerable areas in Japan (suffering from natural disasters) will bring 500 branches of cherry blossom to Halong as a thanks to Vietnam. In the festival, there were exhibitions and display of sakura, Vietnam - Japan cultural exchange, exhibition of 100 booths introducing tourism products, culture, cuisine of Japan, Vietnam, and Quang Ninh. The Halong Cherry Blossom Festival 2015 ended on Aprl 5.
Sakura in Japan blooms from January to May annually, along the longitude of the country. It starts from Okinawa in last January to Hokkaido in early May. Therefore, sakura lovers can contemplate the flower from the south to the North of Japan. Besides, depending on each type of cheery blossom, the flower is at its best in different time. After a week of blooming, it starts fading. As sakura is favored by Japanese people, it is chosen as the national flower. In Vietnam, there are some beautiful cherry blossom trees in Dalat. However, these trees are not the same with those in Japan. Recently, Japanese government presented Vietnam some sakura trees on Vietnam - Japan relations. These trees are planted in Japanese embassy in Vietnam, Lieu Giai Street in Hanoi, and in Sapa. Some Vietnamese travel agents organize tours to Japan for Vietnamese tourists to admire Japanese sakura in early days of a year.
