Vietnam visa exemption for Belarusians

From July 1, 2015 Belarusians entering Vietnam for less than 15 days will be exempted from Vietnam visa, regardless any purposes of entry. Accordingly, citizens of Belarus can travel Vietnam, come to Vietnam to visit relatives without visa for 15 days.

Vietnam government has issue a Resolution on Vietnam visa exemption for citizens of Republic of Belarus with a term. From July 1, Belarusians coming to Vietnam will be exempted from Vietnam visa with the temporary residence period of less than 15 days, regardless the purposes of entry. To specify, the government will exempt visa for Belarusian citizens when  entering Vietnam with the duration not exceeding 15 days since the date of entry, regardless of types of passport, immigration purposes, on the basis of meeting the regulations of Vietnam law on exempted visa.

According to the Resolution, citizens of Belarus will not have to apply for visa to Vietnam if they travel Vietnam less than 15 days. The policy is applied to all types of passport on the basis of meeting all requirements of Vietnam law. The exemption policy when entering Vietnam for citizens of Belarus will be implemented in a period of 5 years, from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020, and will be reviewed and renewed under the Vietnam law. Previously, at the regular meeting in May, Vietnam government discussed and agreed with solutions of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to deal with difficulties and develop tourism. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked ministries, branches, and localities to enhance tourism development - a key sector of Vietnam economy.

According to the proposal of the ministry, Vietnam will expand the unilateral visa exemption for countries as a focal markets, strategic and comprehensive partners having a great number of tourists, longer accommodating demand, and higher expenditure. Groups of resolutions include information transparency, facilitation of procedures, apply Vietnam visa on arrival at the border, issue e-visa, and implement regional agreement... As of the present, such ASEAN countries as Thailand exempts visa for 61 countries and continents (unilateral visa exemption for 49 countries), Malaysia exempts for 155 countries (unilateral visa exemption for 82 ones), and Laos applies e-visa and border visa for 150 countries (unilateral visa exemption for 10 ones).

Japan, from July 2013, exempted visa for tourists from Thailand and Malaysia, and lengthen the visa validity and issue multiple visa for tourists from Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Therefore, in 2014, the number of tourists coming to Japan from Thailand increases 45.5%, from Malaysia rises 41%, from Philippines rises 70%, and from Vietnam increases 47% year on year. Vietnam visa exemption is applied to 07 counties of Japan, South Korean, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, and Russia. Vietnam also exempts visa for 09 ASEAN countries on the basis of reciprocity.

By dint of the regulation on free visa for Vietnam since 2014, the number of Japanese tourists coming to Vietnam increases by 2.43 times, that of South Korean is by 3.6 times, and that of Russia is by 7.45 times (from 2009). The figure is bigger than the average number of international tourists. According to the proposal of Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism, apart from 07 countries being free from visa to Vietnam, Vietnam will expand the unilateral visa exemption for potential markets having a large number of tourists to Vietnam with longer stay and higher spend. Vietnam visa exemption is applied to 07 counties of Japan, South Korean, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, and Russia. Vietnam also exempts visa for 09 ASEAN countries on the basis of reciprocity.
