Lam Dong Tea Cultural Week is a cultural event of Lam Dong traditionally tea industry which is organized in every two year. This event aims to further strengthen the promotion of tea growing and processing, contribute to advertise the brand of B'Lao - Bao Loc tea, and foster trade promotion activities of Lam Dong Province. Taking place in the last days of December, Lam Dong Tea Cultural Week is considered as one of major activities associated with the closing ceremony of National Tourism Year 2014. The opening ceremony of the Tea Cultural Week was held in December 21st welcoming the attendance of hundreds of actors, actresses, artists, and young people from tea B'Lao villages. The highlight in this day was a competition among Lam Dong's villages to introduce tea processing procedures such as collecting tea, transporting tea, tea processing techniques, etc. In the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates for typical enterprises and families making long-standing contributions for the development of Lam Dong Tea.
Earlier, on December 20th, activities in response to Lam Dong Tea Culture Week also took place such as B’Lao Tea Night” and “Tram Anh Tea Night” programs , trade exhibitions, public art festival in Dong Nai Lake, and terrain car racing in Damb’ri Waterfall Tourist Area (Damb’ri Commune). Lam Dong Tea Culture Week V (2014) consisting of 5 main programs and 12 activities in response is expected to take place from December 20th to 25th in Bao Loc City, Di Linh District, Bao Lam City, and Dalat City. 5 main programs in the Cultural Week includes the opening ceremony of Tea Culture Week (21st December); scientific workshop on solutions for sustainable development of Lam Dong tea area to 2020 and conference on trade investment promotion and linkage in Bao Loc Seri Hotel (21st December); tour to tea planting and processing areas in Tam Chau Tea Farm (20th – 23rd December); and tea expo and exhibition in 28/3 Square (20th – 25th December).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Doan Van Viet - Chairman of Lam Dong People Committee emphasized that Lam Dong had great potentials to promote the development of tea industry. Currently, Lam Dong has 21,961 hectares of tea growing land, in which, there are 20.524 hectares in harvest season with the yield of 211.240 tons per year. In Bao Loc City now, 219 enterprises are processing and trading tea. The output of Lam Dong Tea exporting abroad increased from 3,619 tons in 2010 to 15,590 tons in 2013.
