Along with a night market which has been in existence for many years on the streets of Hang Dao, Hang Ngang, Hang Duong, etc. night activities in Hanoi Old Quarter have become more boisterous and colorful after the expansion of new 6 Hanoi walking streets including Hang Buom, Ma May, Dao Duy Tu, Hang Giay, Luong Ngoc Quyen, and Ta Hien (Hoan Kiem District). The walking time is from 7.00 pm - 12.00 pm in summer and from 4.00 pm - 12.00 pm in winter on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Taking a stroll along these streets, tourists can freely enjoy special cultural activities with Vietnam traditional singings such as "hát xẩm", “chầu văn", "ca trù". In addition, jazz performance space is also arranged on the sidewalk. Here, street artists will perform their special repertoires following both contemporary and classical music. The opening of expanded walking zone in Hanoi Old Quarter has created a favorable condition for tourists to take part in many new and thrilling activities.
After one month since the operation, the walking zone in Hanoi is really a place of interest for relaxation of both local and foreign visitors after a busy week. Walking around here, visitors can enjoy music, cuisine, and relaxing moments with their beloveds. Currently, the junction of Ma May Street and Luong Ngoc Quyen Street is a venue for performing traditional arts. Meanwhile, Hang Buom Street becomes a food street which has attracted many followers of street foods. Hang Buom is now a connecting point of night market between Hang Dao Street and Dong Xuan Street providing travelers more options of foods in Hanoi Old Quarter. With the length of 300 meters, Hang Buom Food Street has 40 stalls selling snacks and eye-catching street foods. These stalls are simply designed fitting well with the space of the Old Quarter.
With an objective of honoring intangible and tangible cultural values of this area, there are many genres of music from classical to contemporary are performed by Vietnamese artists. These performances have brought audiences artistic values in a very new cultural space of the city. Ta Hien - Luong Ngoc Quyen intersection is the most boisterous place attracting many citizens of Old Quarter Hanoi and domestic and international tourists because of its special art performances. Many foreign visitors expressed interest in visiting a living space imbued with Vietnamese culture in the heart of Old Quarter. According to Mr. Nils Thal, a German tourist, he and his friend Jrek Grealings traveled in some Asian countries in this holiday, however, the most interesting thing in their trip was sitting in a corner of Hanoi Old Quarter, drinking beer, and enjoying street music.
